Luang Phor Thuad Nual

Luang Por Thuad Nual of Wat Tuyong, Pattani Province

Luang Phor Tuad Nual was one of the most sacred monks of Wat Tuyong, (Wat Mujarintavapiviharn) of Pattani Province, a part of Thailand were the majority of the population are Muslim and not Buddhist.

He was known to have helped develop the Buddhist faith in this area during the reign of King Rama V, in fact to such an extent that it became a thriving religion.

He was a close friend of Luang Phor Thuad Marn, who then was head Monk of Makrut District of the same province. Whenever Luang Phor Thuad Marn visited Luang Phor Tuad Nual’s monk house he would shake the building with his hands, so strongly that people were amazed at his power.

Apart from teaching Dharma to people Luang Phor Tuad Nual also served people by using his sacred powers to help those in need and as a result his notoriety within the province and neighbouring provinces grew.

Even after his passing Luang Phor Tuad Nual had still helped people and it was revealed by Luang Phor Suk, who later was to became abbot of Wat Tuyong, that he was almost lost his life in an aviation accident.

The monk said that he had initially lived at a temple in Bangkok but had decided to move to Wat Tuyong  and used a Royal Thai Airforce aircraft as the quickest means of transport.

Unexpectedly the aircraft’s engine had malfunctioned in mid flight, and all aboard believed that those were the final minutes of their life.

Luang Phor Suk had prayed to Lord Buddha asking that if his life were to be of service he would like the airplane to land in safety. A miracle occurred as the engines roared back to life and the plane m,ade a safe descent.

After his arrival at Wat Tuyong he was shortly to learn that  a local of the province had claimed he was haunted by the sacred soul of Luang Phor Tuad Nual, that he had saved a giant insect and  was also a follower of Luang Phor Dum, who then was abbot of Wat Tuyong.

Initially people did not understand these words until Luang Por Suk explained the precise meaning. He explained about the accident that had almost taken his life, and that it was Lunag Phor Thuad Nual who was responsible fot his safe arrival and that the  aircraft was simply a representation of a giant insect.

After Luang Phor Dum passed away Luang Phor Suk was appointed as abbot of Wat Tuyong and kept his word to develop the Buddhist faith in the region.
